land acknowledgement
We live and work on the stolen land of the Duwamish People and Suquamish Tribe, who have always honored, cultivated, and conscientiously inhabited this land.
AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF DUWAMISH PEOPLE, GENEROUSLY PROVIDED AND AUTHORED BY THE DUWAMISH PEOPLE:
I would like to acknowledge that we are on the traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People past and present and honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe.
AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE SUQUAMISH TRIBE, GENEROUSLY PROVIDED AND AUTHORED BY THE SUQUAMISH TRIBE:

“We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather is within the ancestral territory of the suq̀ʷabš “People of Clear Salt Water” (Suquamish People). Expert fisherman, canoe builders and basket weavers, the suq̀ʷabš live in harmony with the lands and waterways along Washington’s Central Salish Sea as they have for thousands of years. Here, the suq̀ʷabš live and protect the land and waters of their ancestors for future generations as promised by the Point Elliot Treaty of 1855.”
Get Clairefied, LLC is located on the traditional land of the Coast Salish people, past and present. We honor in gratitude the land itself, and recognize the sovereignty of the Duwamish Tribe.
Beyond acknowledgment, Get Clairefied LLC pays “real rent” to the Duwamish Tribe for their traditional stewardship of the land and also to provide financial reparations to the Tribe (which is still not federally recognized).
Claire has also attended volunteer opportunities and events organized by the Duwamish Tribe, which can be a great addition and/or alternative option to monetary support.
